Membership

The Air Medical Physician Association (AMPA) is a non-profit, professional association founded in 1992 by physicians involved in critical care air and ground transport.  The association is comprised of national and international physicians and other professionals involved in critical care rotor wing, fixed wing, and ground medical transport.  AMPA is governed by a Board of Trustees with direct membership involvement.

  • AMPA presents the annual Medical Director Core Curriculum and the AMPA Forum.
  • AMPA co-sponsors the annual Critical Care Transport Medicine Conference (CCTMC) and the annual Air Medical Transport  Conference (AMTC)
  • AMPA developed and publishes Principles & Direction of Air Medical Transport, 2nd Edition
  • AMPA awards an annual Research Seed Grant of $2,000 to foster research residents, and medical fellows to enter the research field.among medical students, physician
  • AMPA develops and maintains the Ground and Air Medical qUality in Transport (GAMUT) database to collect transport quality metrics and benchmark improved practice for the benefit of all patients.

REPRESENTATION

  • Representation on the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS/CAMTSEU), the body that develops the standards for the critical care transport profession

  • Representation on the Air Medical Journal Associates committee, providing guidance to the editors and publishers of the Air Medical Journal
  • Representation to other professional health care associations addressing issues affecting the physician, and influencing better patient care
